MARCHWOOD Integrated were approached to provide a solution to an unmanned mine site in a remote part of Australia where there was no practical solution to connect local fire alarm panels and valves to a fire alarm network. There was no means of alerting anyone to the event of an alarm or fault on the site.
MARCHWOOD Integrated in conjunction with the client provided a series of wireless nodes that fitted into the existing fire alarm panels and onto critical fire valves. The nodes were wirelessly meshed to a local site controller that was connected to an existing internet connection that was available in the communications hut. The site controller communicated to the cloud based MARCHWOOD integrated MIMs software that gave the site operator the ability to monitor the site for alarms and faults, offer a predictive maintenance system and manage the maintenance and repair staff. This system gave the site operator the opportunity to evaluate the field devices and have a better understanding of our mesh capabilities and how it could interact with other remote equipment throughout this mine site and others throughout Australia.
This solution allowed the connection of disparate fire alarm panels, valves and other hardware onto a “one platform” IIOT solution that the site operator wishes to roll out on 30+ sites in Australia. Following the installation and testing of systems on these sites, the operator has indicated that they will deploy the system on other sites worldwide. The operator has stated that the ease of installation and the flexibility of the software has allowed them to be more efficient.
